Tuesday March 16th 2010Its been an awesome month for our Superheroes Management clients.
Bobby Brown backed up his stupendous dual Winter X-Games 14 gold medals with a win at the last Dew Tour stop in Vermont, and then proceeded to Tignes, France where he grabbed silver at the first European X-Games in Slope. In between, he did some filming in Portes du Soleil (Swiz) for the perennial Powder Award winning ski film company, Matchstick Productions, and then shot what is being touted as the cover of Freeskier Magazine’s 2011 Buyers Guide at his nativeBreckenridge. So yeah, safe to say he's still going off.
As is customary this time of year, international snowboard film superstars Devun Walsh and Mikey Rencz went berzerk in the BC backcountry, clocking several massive days of shooting. With their posh snowmobiles as their primary modes of transportation in the deepest pow on the planet, each of them produced stacks of shots for this years’ highly-anticipated film releases. Mikey is filming with “The People Crew” this year, with a fellow crew of international stars like Eero Niemela and Curtis Cizcek, while Devun doubles down with Transworld and DC and their batch of heavy hitters. Can’t wait to see what both of these machines put out for 2010. As a taste of what they’ve done in the past, you can download the full8milelife film here. Its a beauty!
In the midst of his ‘off-season,’ Brandon Semenuk headed down to Aptos, California for a bit of training. Not surprisingly, he powered the Subaru WRX that he’s clocked more than 31,000km’s in since he bought it less than a year ago. While in Aptos, Brandon learned a little trick on his mountain-bike that called a Cork-7. Such a trick may be a yawner depending on your action-sport of choice, but to watch it landed on a 26” hard-tail mountain-bike is sheer lunacy. Yeah, Brando. Can't wait to see another banger part from Brandon in the upcoming Anthill Films' Follow Me. And a happy belated birthday too.
Onto Seb Toots, the young slopestyle mountain-bike star from outside of Montreal, QC. Toots blew his ankle out badly this past December at the Billabong Air and Style in Innsbruck. He also busted his wrist in the same crash, airing nearly 80 feet over the jump, knuckle, and landing, landing completely in the flat. But these days, we are pleased that Seb is completely recovered. That means that he landed 4 consecutive double-cork 10s the other day (!!!), and will be ready to blow some more minds when he returns to action at the upcoming US Open and subsequent Montreal Shakedown, a contest that he has won two times -- 2006 at the age of 13, and again in 2009. Go Seb!
Finally, 17 year-old Sean Pettit has been enthusiastically preparing to defend his “2010 Powder Male Performance of the Year” award, ripping up the best steeps from France to Japan, and in between in his native British Columbia. Steve Winter, one of the OG’s at MSP had this to say, “You never want to call a part done, because you can always make it better, but man, Sean has already had a VERY productive year.” Next stop for Pettit is the always amazing Red Bull Cold Rush atRetallack, BC. Sean pulled a second place at the event in 2008, and plans to go huge again this year. Video-based contests suit Sean's style just fine. He grabbed second at this year's Red Bull Line Catcher as well. Maniac!
