‘Live it, love it.’
Mikey Rencz may not have written that line, but he does love it, and he does live it.
It’s this attitude, and his own unique representation of it, that makes Mikey so magnetic to those around him. In an industry often stereotyped for too-cool-for-anyone posturing, Mikey effortlessly creates a harmonious environment for all: from his superstar bros to the outcasts that never sat at the cool-kid table. What matters is real substance - the genuine, the positive, and the uncompromising. He assembles the band, and then orchestrates the good times.
On his snowboard, his personality is given a perfect channel for expression. Going beyond the cliche of merely ‘making it look easy,’ Mikey Rencz brings some of the very best progressive, urban finesse to the most hardcore backcountry terrain in the world, his vast backyard known to the world as British Columbia. Mikey’s style is emulated by many of those around him, and those far away in distant lands.
Each year, his segments in videos, made by the likes of Transworld, Burton, People, and the legendary Whiteout Films, take it up a notchoutdo themselves - bigger jumps and terrain, crazier spins, and the overall feel of a pro writing the best chapters in a major volume of work. When Mikey happens to find a break in the winter action, he’s usually wrecking he doesn’t slow down, for the business of fun is just too important to skip. That’s the time for his pet passion project along: 8 Mile Life.
On the his surface, Mikey is the consummate - a good times guy with a devotion to just partyin’ and stackin’ checks from sponsors. But in reality, Mikey is a responsible and complete professional, not to mention a shrewd-enough businessman who has been wise enough to have put more of his hard-earned paychecks into real estate than empty shot glasses. He knows that someday the pro snowboard life has to end. But wherever he goes, there’s no doubt about it, his smile will remain and his theme will stick:
Live It, Love It.
